Household Hazardous Waste

Site Management

On the day of the collection DLD provides the following:

  • Equipment and supplies for site set-up
  • Canopies
  • Site set-up and take-down
  • Personnel to conduct all site waste activities
  • Unloading of participant vehicles
  • Characterization of unknowns
  • Sorting and D.O.T. packaging of materials
  • D.O.T. labeling
  • Vehicles to remove hazardous and non-hazardous waste
  • Loading of DLD vehicles
  • Vehicle placarding
  • Completion of shipping paper, including listing DLD as generator

Through DLD's extensive experience, an efficient method has been developed for set-up, collection, and take-down on the day of the HHW collection site. This leaves the sponsoring agency free for observation, briefing its own volunteers and citizen contact. At the end of the day, after the collection has been completed, all waste is loaded onto DLD trucks, the site is swept clean.
